Does God answer prayers when you least expect it?

He may answer your prayer in an unexpected way, He might answer your prayer through someone else in your life, or He might answer your prayers through tragedies and losses. It can be hard sometimes to see God answering our prayers if we aren't actively looking for them.

What are the 3 ways God answers prayers?

I've heard it said that God answers prayers in one of three ways. God says “Yes,” and you receive what you ask for. God says “No,” and you have to accept it and move on. Or God says “Not Yet,” and you learn to be patient and wait.

This week, I was reading 1 Kings and couldn’t help but notice how God cared for the prophet Elijah.

Israel was suffering through a three-year drought. The Lord told Elijah to go to the brook of Cherith where he could drink water and hide from King Ahab who was trying to kill him. God sent ravens to bring him food.

When the brook dried up, God commanded Elijah to go to a city called Zarephath, where a widow would give him food. But this widow was on the verge of death from the famine. She knew it would be the last meal for herself and her son. Elijah told her not to be afraid, but she would need to give her last meal to him.

“For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: “The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.” (1 Kings 17:14)

What a huge step of faith this woman took by giving her last meal to a stranger! Her act of faith opened the door to immense blessing. Their food did not run out!
